Leah & Matthew’s Story of Strength

Leah & Matthew’s Story of Strength

Leah-MatthewLeah, Mathew and their two-year-old son arrived in our offices at 4:50 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. All they had were the clothes on their backs and half a tank of gas. They had been sleeping in their car for nearly a week and were at their wits’ end.  They left New Jersey days earlier when their house was foreclosed on and they were forced to vacate.  We provided them with funds for a hotel room for the weekend, along with enough food to last for several days.  After the holiday, they were able to get into a family-friendly shelter and begin putting their lives back together. Since then, Leah has found work and, as a way to show her thanks to TJFS, has begun volunteering at the agency’s Community Food Bank. This is Leah and Mathew’s Story of Strength.
