Tim Jarrett is the General Manager of the Centre Club, a prestigious dining and event facility atop the Urban Centre Building at the corner of Kennedy and Westshore in Tampa. When not employing his extensive hospitality and marketing acumen at his “day job,” Tim brings these talents to the table as a member of the Florida Medical Clinic Foundation of Caring Board of Directors.
“I have spent my entire career in the hospitality industry, so I have good operational experience from the standpoint of marketing and promotions, but first and foremost, I want to be a conduit of connections from the Foundation to the community, bringing the Foundation together with people who are looking for local non-profits to support,” Jarrett said.
When Foundation of Caring Board of Directors Vice President Ray Frazier introduced Tim to the Foundation, Jarrett said he immediately appreciated the community focus. “I love that our resources—both money and volunteer hours—are invested in local, grassroots causes. That community focus keeps people involved and passionate about making a difference they can see.”
Jarrett said a combination of local focus, good communication and strong structure enables the Foundation to make a considerable impact without necessitating a huge amount of time. “Even in our Board meetings, Deb (Thielen) has it set up so everything runs smooth. We have plenty of time for brainstorming and for real discussion that leads to real impact.”
Tim added that one of the things that most impresses him about the Foundation leadership is the diversity of backgrounds and expertise at the table. “We have people in medicine, advertising, sports, marketing, business. It can be tough sometimes for a non-profit to bring that many diverse skills together, so I believe we have something really special.”
But there is something else that Tim said makes the Foundation of Caring even more special. “The Florida Medical Clinic employees are so involved, so engaged, and in such large numbers. This allows us to have a tremendous impact.”
Jarrett said he hopes people continue to stay engaged and suggested that they sign up for the newsletter to stay up to date on events and connect with the Foundation of Caring on Facebook and Twitter. “Stay informed about what we have going on, and come out to an event. That’s where you really see the Caring at work.”
