The Florida Medical Clinic Foundation of Caring Board of Directors is proud to announce the following grants awarded to local non-profits in June 2014. With your help, we were able to invest a total of $130,691 to help change lives right here in our community.
Brain Expansions Scholastic Training $28,256
To encourage under-represented minority & disadvantaged Pasco middle & high school students to pursue a career in the health professions.
Alpha House $15,685
Medical equipment to support breast-feeding mothers and to provide on-site hearing exams for babies and toddlers.
Unsigned Preps $14,000
To expose low income first-generation college bound students to higher education opportunities through potential athletic scholarships, improving their chances to achieve their goal of going to college.
Camelot Community Care $11,000
Therapeutic foster parent training for 7 key trainers and 163 therapeutic foster parents.
East Pasco YMCA $3,750
Sponsor cancer survivors in a 12-week program helping them achieve holistic health goals.
Koss Music $7,500
Students receive 30 minutes per week of individual music instruction in after care program to reduce juvenile delinquency.
Buddy Baseball $2,500
Purchase uniforms, hats, equipment, player insurance and trophies for special needs children.
Tampa Jewish Family Services $2,500
Purchase high protein ingredients for food bags for hungry families.
Special Spaces $3,000
Create dream bedrooms for children with life threatening medical illnesses.
Tampa Eden Project $1,500
For an aqua-ponics system installation at the Ybor community garden. The mission is to provide fresh and local food to the underserved.
University Area Community Development $7,000
To install a new kitchen in the University Area Community Food Pantry to serve homeless and low-income families.
The Sylvia Thomas Center for Adoption & Foster Families $4,000
Monthly support group for pre and post adoptive parents. Provide pre & post adoptive services to help insure successful adoptions for hard to place youth.
Wheels of Success $10,000
The cars for caregivers program provides transportation solutions to Tampa Bay caregivers. Money would recondition vehicles.
American Diabetes Association $10,000
To expand Family Link program and Safe at Schools program in Tampa Bay and to develop a pilot outreach strategy targeting pre-school age children to reduce risk of obesity and early onset of diabetes. Family Link connects families with other families of kids with diabetes.
