The FMC Foundation of Caring Board of Directors is proud to announce the following grants awarded to local non-profits in May 2016:
Alpha House of Tampa - $16,206
The grant will help fund the SAFE AT HOME: Nurturing Parenting Education for Domestic Violence Survivors in Pasco County Program. Alpha House of Tampa offers homeless pregnant women and mothers with young children safe housing and the tools they need to become self-sufficient and effective, responsible parents.
Arts in Motion Youth Theatre - $1,000
The grant will help with the cost of the spring production of Disney’s Little Mermaid. Arts in Motion provides a means for children in kindergarten through 12th grade to participate in the visual and performing arts that are both educational and entertaining, in a community where similar opportunities are not available.
The Children’s Home - $18,000
The grant will support the Maternity Program, which is a residential program for teenage girls who are pregnant and/or raising their own children while in foster care. The Children’s Home strengthens communities through programs that support, serve and protect children and their families.
Gulf Coast Jewish Family and Community Services - $10,000
The grant will help fund the Family Reunification Program in Hillsborough County which strives to move abused children from foster care back home to their parents, safely and therapeutically. GCJFCS, inspired by Jewish values, protects the vulnerable and helps people achieve fulfilling lives by empowering individuals and strengthening families.
A Kid’s Place - $20,000
The grant will be used for the Siblings Connected Program, which allows abused children to experience the security of being placed with their siblings in a safe and loving home where they can begin to heal from the trauma they’ve endured. A Kid’s Place provides a safe, loving and nurturing home to foster children from infancy to age seventeen who have been removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect, or abandonment.
