WHO WE ARE
Helping patients is just the beginning. Florida Medical Clinic is not only a major healthcare provider in Hillsborough and Pasco Counties but also sets a very visible example of philanthropic leadership. After all, who better sees the needs of our community than those who are responsible for their healthcare?
So, in 2005, after a long history of informal community giving, the clinic established the Florida Medical Clinic Foundation of Caring (FMCFOC), a 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to helping others.
Unlike most medical foundations, FMCFOC is unique in that we do not use donated funds to support or enhance clinic activities. Instead, we strategically re-invest locally through qualified non-profit organizations to provide hope, opportunities and solutions to those who need it most. Since our inception, we have made a vast impact in the communities the clinic serves by supporting individuals, children, and families in need and at-risk.
Joe Delatorre, Florida Medical Clinic CEO affirms, “We are dedicated to giving back. This Foundation was created to initiate continued involvement in the community and to genuinely make a difference to improve people’s lives.”
In 2016, Florida Medical Clinic Foundation of Caring was awarded the Philanthropic Service Club of the Year at the Association of Professional Fundraisers, Nature Coast Chapter’s National Philanthropy Day.
WHAT WE DO
As a catalyst for community change, FMCFOC is dedicated to improving the quality of life for all by providing professional expertise, financial support and volunteer efforts to our most vulnerable citizens. We collectively pool our resources to make the greatest impact for a variety of worthwhile community projects and programs.
Our community impact is delivered in a few ways. Through our carefully vetted, bi-annual competitive grant process, we partner with nonprofit organizations in Hillsborough and Pasco counties to enrich lives and create immediate and ongoing positive change. With the support of our generous donors, FMCFOC has fed hungry families, funded programs for at risk children, underwritten costs of accessibility upgrades for people with disabilities and provided safe havens for women and children who have been abused.
To date FMCFOC has re-invested over $3.6 million dollars in 180 local nonprofit organizations. Together, with your support, we can continue to make a more meaningful and long-lasting impact.
We also offer volunteer opportunities to clinic providers, employees and administrators. This can be “hands on” work at a local community agency, boosting attendance at an event as Team FMC or raising awareness and money to meet a specific need.
“We have built this Foundation as an opportunity to reach beyond our walls to the people and the families that live in our neighborhoods” states Sheri Schwab, Foundation of Caring Founder.
You have the power to change someone’s life.
